Taking a Stand

Many of the women from the DSWB were involved in a protest on Saturday at midday.

We were standing up against the National Party's proposed unfair changes to employment law.

Clare Curran, Labour MP for Dunedin South, was among the speakers addressing the crowd, as was unionist Glenda Alexander.

There was a strong showing from the Labour Party as well as the unions, and there were also representatives of other parties opposed to the proposed legislation, including the Green Party.

Saturday's protest gathering and march was just the beginning; there are urgent plans for more action, soon, to protect workers' rights.

Watch this space.
